Divination

Divination is the practice of exploring & discovering hidden significance or the cause of events in one's life, or to foretell the future by using magickal methods. Fortune telling in one form or another has been used by all civilizations, both modern & ancient. The term Divination is derived from the Latin word "divinare" which means: to foresee, to foretell, to predict, or to prophesy. It also relates to the Latin word "divinus" meaning divine.

There are many divination techniques, the key is to find the one that speaks to you.
Here are some common types of divination used today by modern witches:

Astrology

The study of how celestial bodies affect the natural world & human affairs

Cartomancy

A form of fortune telling using a deck of cards (playing cards or tarot cards)

Palmistry

The art of reading the features of the hand and deciphering the shape and the lines.

Rune Casting

A way of inquiring about the unknown by picking or casting runes & interpreting their meanings.

I Ching

A method of divination that involves throwing coins and adding up the results.

Scrying

The practice of gazing into a medium in hopes of detecting messages

Dowsing

A form of divination using a pendulum (weighted object swinging on a cord or chain)

Tasseomancy

A classic form of folk divination that requires the interpretation of tea leaves.

Augury

A method of divination preformed by the interpretation of signs & omens.
