Besom

TOOL OF CLEANSING & CONCECRATION

A besom is a sacred broom used to cleanse & consecrate sacred spaces by symbolically sweeping away energy & negativity. Along with the cauldron, it is probably the most recognizable symbol of witchcraft. A symbol of fertility, it is associated with both male (broom stick) & female (broom bristles) genitals combined. Besoms are also used for in Handfasting celebrations (witches' wedding), purifying rituals & fertility rites.
